5 ) Siem Reap – Cambodia
Markets in exotic countries are often a fun way to look at life and culture. If you can avoid the tourist traps that sell little else then souvenirs, you might end up finding markets for locals. This huge Cambodian market was a good example of that. There was an endless supply of food I either didn’t recognize or couldn’t imagine was meant to be eaten. Everyone went to the market, from dirty and butch men in boots selling fish heads to clean, put-together little ladies offering meat of all sorts. The smell was special and the place amazing, much like the country it self.
