9) Maasai Mara – Kenya
On the African prairie there is only one king. A regal giant who doesn’t tread lightly or hide. He proudly dominates his surroundings, not afraid of anything. There is not much that threatens this regal creature other than dry spells and poachers. He strolls around and chews on the grass. Later in the trip we rode on an elephant back and got to know this creature a little, we bathed an elephant in the Mekong river for example. It didn’t seem to matter whether the elephant had been captured and trained 45 years ago or whether it was in the wild. Stoic peace and composure are true characteristics of the elephant.
